An authentic Jimma chair used by a tribe Chief from Ethiopia, early 20th century. Carved from a single piece of wood. Wood is dark brown with a matte patina. Slightly concave circular seat on three sculptural legs. A curved silhouette backrest is defined by geometrical openwork.
These chairs were traditionally used during initiation rituals.
